Perú: Chaparrí Jungla Encantada

 

Uno de los más bellos lugares de conservación de la fauna silvestre del norte del Perú, es Chaparrí, que es una Reserva Ecológica Privada que se encuentra en la comunidad de Santa Catalina en la ciudad de Chongoyape a 62 km al oeste de Chiclayo.

La reserva es una de las mejores áreas de protección para los bosques secos y es el hogar de una amplia variedad de vida silvestre, incluyendo muchas especies endémicas y amenazadas como:  Oso de Anteojos u Oso andino, Cóndor Andino,  Pava Aliblanca,  Zorro Costeño, Guanaco, y el Pitajo de Tumbes.

La reserva debe su nombre a la espectacular montaña llamada Cerro Chaparrí que domina el paisaje, está montaña fue considerada sagrada por la Cultura Mochica y lo sigue siendo para los chamanes de todo el Perú.

El Oso de anteojos 

-  En el mundo hay 8 especies de Osos y la única que habita en este continente es el Oso de anteojos. 

-  Aunque este mamífero pertenece al orden de los carnívoros, su dieta esta compuesta principalmente por vegetales. 

-  Se trata de un animal bastante fuerte pero de carácter tímido, pacífico y que generalmente  huye del contacto humano. 

- Se caracteriza por su pelaje negro y las irregulares manchas de color amarillento en el pecho y especialmente en la cara. De allí proviene su nombre. 

- Es considerado como un eximio trepador de árboles, lugar donde suele descansar. Vive generalmente solitario salvo en la época de celo. 

- El Oso de Anteojos está considerado como una especie en peligro de extinción e iniciativas como la de Chaparri son muy meritorias.

 

 

 

Pava Aliblanca

Es esbelta, negra y con las plumas de los extremos de las alas de color blanco. Mide 80 cm. y pesa cerca de 2 kilos.

Habita en quebradas de los bosques secos de la costa norte. Este ecosistema incluye largos meses de sequía desde mayo a diciembre, con una época de lluvias de enero a abril, la cual puede no ocurrir en años de sequía o ser excesivamente fuerte durante años en que ocurre del Niño.

La reserva es una de las mejores áreas de protección para los bosques secos y es el hogar de una amplia variedad de vida silvestre, incluyendo muchas especies endémicas y amenazadas como:  Oso de Anteojos o Andino, Cóndor Andino,  Pava Aliblanca,  Zorro Costeño, Guanaco, y el Pitajo, Chaparri hogar y refugio de Fauna y encanto del Perù.

Peru: Chaparri Enchanted jungle

 

One of the most beautiful places on conservation of wildlife in northern Peru, is Chaparrí, a private ecological reserve located in the community of Santa Catalina in the town of Chongoyape placed 62 km. west of Chiclayo City.

The reserve is one of the best areas of protection for dry forests and is home to a wide variety of wildlife including many endemic and threatened species such as spectacled bear or Andean bear ("oso de anteojos" in spanish), Andean Condor, White-winged Guan, Sechuran Fox, Guanaco and Pitajo of Tumbes.

The reserve is named after the spectacular mountain called "Cerro Chaparrí" that dominates the landscape, this mountain was considered sacred by the Mochica culture and remains so for shamans throughout Peru.

The Chaparrí EcoLodge offers accommodation in adobe bungalows at the heart of the reservation (12 rooms with private bath and four with shared bathroom). Packages include three meals and guiding services, we can also arrange transport.

 

Spectacled Bear

- In the world there are eight species of bears and the only living on this continent is the Spectacled Bear.

- Although this mammal of the order of carnivores, their diet consists mainly of vegetables.

- This is a very strong animal but a timid, peaceful and generally avoids human contact.

- It is characterized by irregular black fur and yellow spots on the chest and especially on the face. Hence its name.

- Is regarded as an accomplished climber of trees, where you normally rest. It usually lives alone except in the mating season.

- The spectacled bear is listed as an endangered species and initiatives such as Chaparri are very deserving.

      

 

 

 

White-winged Guan

It’s sleek, black feathers and the tips of the wings white. It measures 80 cm. tall and weighs about 2 kilos.Inhabits streams dry forests of the north coast. This ecosystem includes long months of drought from May to December, with a rainy season from January to April, which may not occur in dry years or be too strong for years of occurrence of the Child.
